August, 07 2012 | Ioannes Stobaeus

The International Field School of archaeology, organized by NI Stobi and the Balkan Heritage Foundation, began on the 27th of July with the participation of 22 people from different countries. The field school is being held for the third time and it is a great opportunity for interaction between archaeology students of different universities, as well as other volunteers interested in archaeology. The excavations are focused on the Semicircular court in order to uncover the surrounding workshops from the 6th century AD. During the investigations the participants are introduced to the basic methods of archaeological excavation and documentation. Besides the fieldwork, lectures on the history, archaeology and architecture of the site are held in the facilities of NI Stobi.

The field school ends on the 27th of August and the participants will receive university credits depending on the excavation sessions they participated.
