August, 03 2011 | Ioannes Stobaeus

The project for conservation and restoration of the wall paintings from the Episcopal basilica, financed by the US Ambassador’s fund for cultural preservation, is almost finished.

During the final phase, the conservation team at Stobi is restoring the damaged parts of the decoration and afterwards they will partially retouch them without disturbing their original appearance.

In the previous phase the frescoes were affixed to stabile aluminum honeycomb plates and cleaned of calcification.

The project will end on the 22nd of August 2011.
