In 2001, USAID financed the project “Pre-Roman Stobi – Population and Culture”. It was directed by Eleonora Petrova and the excavations were conducted by the Museum of Macedonia and other associates.
Seven different points were subject to the archaeological investigations: Domus Fulonica, House of Peristeria, Civil Basilica, Episcopal Residence, North City Wall, The Acropolis and the so-called Building at the Plateau above the Museum.
A modest report of the excavations is found in Macedonia Acta Archaeologica No. 18.
