The 2026 conservation campaign in the Residential and Commercial Quarter of Early Byzantine Stobi has successfully concluded. Conducted between 1 and 30 October, this year’s activities focused on the conservation of several smaller wall sections, alongside renewed conservation interventions on walls treated during previous campaigns.
With the completion of this season’s work, we also reached an important milestone: the conclusion of the multi-year conservation project covering two buildings within the Residential and Commercial Quarter. Through successive conservation campaigns, the project has contributed to the long-term preservation and protection of this significant part of Stobi’s Early Byzantine urban landscape.
The conservation campaigns have been funded by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, whose continued support has been instrumental in the preservation of this important part of the archaeological site.
The completion of this project marks another important step in the ongoing efforts to safeguard and preserve Stobi’s architectural heritage. It also contributes to the gradual conservation and presentation of the Residential and Commercial Quarter, offering a clearer understanding of the urban organization and everyday life in the city during the Early Byzantine period.
