The rooster is also called a bird of the sun, announcing the new day. Every morning he crows saluting the sun, symbolizing the victory of the day over the night. The rooster is a symbol of courage, pride, carefulness and prudence. In antiquity, because of the warrior-like character, the rooster is connected to the god of war Ares; it is also connected with other gods, for example Apollo Phoibos or Asclepius (the god of medicine and healing) thus giving him apotropaic power.
