The oil lamp has with two nozzles and a depiction of a spread-winged eagle, standing on a branch. The eagle symbolizes strength, courage and immortality. The wings signify protection, and the gripping talons symbolize ruin to evildoers. It is associated with the Roman legions, having been the official ensign of the Empire. In Roman mythology, it is closely connected to Jupiter. It is considered that the eagle is the king of the air and the messenger of the highest Gods. Depictions of eagles have been found on coins, mosaics, frescoes, sculptures, and it was, and still is, used as a heraldic symbol throughout the world.
